What makes the mini and yves saint laurent an iconic product and an important designer?

this is for my tech exam tomorrow and i lost the sheet. just what makes them iconic and important|||The Mini was designed by Alex Issigonis - also responsible for the Morris Minor - a distinctive affordable design that was taken up by the fashionable people of the day - and was part of the epitome of Swinging London. After being featured in the Italian Job there was no looking back - the only drawback being the fact that you had to sit in with your knees in your chest. But its biggest advantage was it was eminently affordable and cheap to run. other iconic cars VW - blighted by association with Hitler, and the 2CV ditto, the French. One of the keys to it success was that although innovative it was built off an established brand.

Similarly St Laurent - worked at Dior and was responsible for the New Look - and popularised fashions such as safari jackets and tuxedos - already established but given a new branding and cachet, again relying on the fashionable 'jet set' to create an aspiration amongst the public, which could be attained. Not as revolutionary or technically daring as Chanel, he nevertheless managed to cultivate the projection of self-as-celebrity which helped a successful career.
